How to Add a Foreign Card

  1. 1

    Download & sign up

Get the Alipay app, register with your overseas phone number or email. The international version has an English interface (Me → Settings → Language).

  2. 2

    Open the card entry

App path: 我的 (Me) → 银行卡 (Bank Cards) → 添加银行卡 (Add Card)

Or just search "Card" on the home screen — faster than digging through menus.

  3. 3

    Enter card details

Card number, expiry, CVV, and the billing address registered with your bank. Use the address exactly as your bank has it — mismatches trigger declines.

  4. 4

    Bank-side verification

Your issuing bank sends an SMS/email OTP. Some banks need overseas online payments enabled beforehand — if no code arrives, that is the usual suspect.

  5. 5

    Pay & confirm

App path: 付款 (Pay) → 选择银行卡 (Select bank card)

At checkout choose your foreign card as the payment method. The merchant sees a normal Alipay payment; the FX and fee happen on your card statement.

  6. 6

    If it declines

Most first-week declines are bank-side (overseas transaction blocks), not Alipay. Call your bank, confirm they allow the transaction, retry. See FAQ below.
